Alzbeta Josefy (*1984) is a Czech artist whose practice originates in painting but extends into object and performance. She is deeply engaged with the painterly nature of material states - with how things shift and reveal themselves depending on light, colour, and perception. Her early focus on the external appearance of objects and figures gradually evolved into an exploration of what lies beneath surfaces: inner folds, cores, and processes from which the visible world quietly emerges.
Josefy approaches the artistic process as a relational field of latent events, where material itself becomes active and alive. Through a dialogue between methodical precision and associative intuition, she examines the tension between form and formlessness, appearance and essence. Her works unfold as rhythmic processes that trace the balance between what disappears and what remains. Through reduction and repetition, she searches for essence and permanence within transformation, revealing connections and correspondences rather than isolated things.
